Our logo has been designed to be inclusive and representative of the people, the history, our industry and the physical environment of the Rylstone-Kandos region.
Being circular, the logo maintains neither a start nor a finish where all members of our community are welcome and equally held. Historically through to today, the Rylstone-Kandos Show has been a major celebration of the communities and its produce, and as such the Rylstone-Kandos Show Society (RKSS) is located at the centre of the logo.
The colours of the logo were chosen to reflect both the traditional and proud history of the show, whilst also reflecting its agricultural roots.
The logo is also intended to be descriptive visually whilst also detailing the chronology of the region from the top left to the bottom right.
The image located inside the inner circle on the top left portrays Coomber Melon Mountain. This mountain provided an important landmark to the Traditional Aboriginal communities of the Rylstone-Kandos area, the Dabee Wiradjuri tribe whilst also today casting an imposing figure and wise eye over the townships of Kandos and Rylstone.
If Australia was built on the back of the sheep, the communities of Rylstone and Kandos were riding shotgun with the region maintaining a proud wool and fine wool growing history.
The humble sheep also represents our broad agricultural community which historically, and still today, provides a significant platform for our annual show and a key component of our community.
From an industry perspective, the township of Kandos and its cement production provided the concrete to make Sydney the town it is today. Whilst Kandos Cement is now idle, the region still maintains a solid industry and services sector and the visualisation of the Cement works is provided to reflect this key industry sector.
Change and evolution are inevitable and whilst the Rylstone-Kandos region is not a renowned as a traditional grape growing region, a small vibrant ever-expanding viticulture industry exists. This evolution is not limited to the development of the viticultural industry however, with the region also home to numerous other emerging industries including the ever-expanding tourism sector seeking to explore the natural beauty of our valley.
At the heart of our logo is the Vision of the RKSS to “...promote our community, to showcase our passions and celebrate excellence.”
